Jewelry FAQs
Does a diamond need to be cleaned?
If a diamond is not clean, it will not shine as brightly as it could.
If dirt or grease collects on the diamond the diamond will lose some
of its gleam. Some jewelers provide kits for customers for cleaning
and others advise customers to bring the diamond in to have it professionally
maintained.
What is a blood diamond?
In some politically unstable countries lives are lost over the diamond
mining rights. Diamonds sold from these countries in this way are called
conflict diamonds or blood diamonds. Many consumers now try to avoid
purchasing diamonds that are exported from countries with such political
problems.
What are some recommended ways to care for jewelry?
In order to prevent dirt from building up upon precious jewelry and
tarnishing necklaces, bracelets, hearings etc., jewelry owners should
store jewels in a jewelry box. Consumers can also store jewelry in its
original packaging. When doing household chores be careful not to expose
jewelry to strong chemicals which could cause discoloration.
